A Short Course in Brain Surgery
Mood:  not sure
Topic: Links

This is a disturbing movie clip about national health insurance. A Short Course in Brain Surgery The problem with health insurance is that the concept was developed when Baby-Boomers were still young and healthy and easily outnumbered the old and catastrophically ill. At that point, medical care was still quite "low-tech," malpractice law hadn't proliferated, "old" people still died in their sixties, middle age was considered 36 and most people hadn't become the couch potatoes that we are now. Health "insurance" is a flawed premise. Cars and houses can be insured because house fires and car accidents only happen to a small percent in any given year. People,  on the other hand, as long as they don't die suddenly,  will  ALL  eventually need catastrophic  health care. What can be done? There are no easy answers.
